If server-side conversation history is turned off in your organization, by default, the Skype for Business on Mac client will auto-accept incoming messages if the message arrives within 5 minutes of the Mac client being active. This helps ensure the sender does not get the following error: “We couldn't send this message.” After 5 minutes of any activity, the Mac client does not auto-accept the messages to ensure mobile endpoints are able to accept incoming messages as necessary. To increase/decrease the time to auto-accept on the Mac client from the default 5 minutes, follow either of these steps:
Create a configuration profile with the appropriate key and value and install it on a managed Mac. Creating and installing configuration profiles is out of the scope of these steps; see Configuration Profile Reference .

We are beginning to roll out Lync for Mac (and windows) and on the Mac side there doesn't seem to be a clear cut (easy) way to customize your icon like you can do in AIM, Yahoo Messenger, etc. Knowing that I will get a bunch of calls regarding this,
how exactly do you do it? I assume it's pointing to your contact in Outlook 2011, and I checked my contact and it has a custom picture there.
Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks
I completely agree with you that M$ needs to make better Mac software - i'm having some major issues with Office 2011 especially Outlook 2011 - and that is definately not Apples fault
The reason i'm running on a Mac is due to customer demand - I'm an IT pro and more and more of my customers are introducing them as BYOD - however the OS does have very limited application support compared to a Windows system - hence Parallels and Windows
7 Enterprise on my machine
I do love that i can work on a customers VPN from the Windows side and keep the Mac side off the VPN so i can do research, browse internet, do mail and Lync etc. Really comes in hand when testeing Lync between two different organizations from one machine
I just had my first experience today dealing with Apple tech support - took me 1.5 hour to get to the right department and i had to INSIST on them gathering system information, they were going to wash their hands
After upgrading to 10.8 and latest build of Parallels 7, my machine will completely freeze from time to time
It could be 10 minutes into my work or 3 hours into my work
Apple is pointitng fingers at Parallels, since that is running all the time - and Parallels is pointing fingers at Apple because the whole OS is freezing
Apple however did finally say they would escalate, so now there is a two day wait for the escalation engineers to review my reports and data and they will then get back to me
I haven't seen a Windows machine freeze completely since before the NT days
that was one of the main features when NT came out that everything was isolated and an application would't take down the host OS
but the Mac OS is definately a lot more cute than Win, however right i have to forcefully restart my machine up to 5 times a day, making it very problematic to get any work done
and yes i still think it's a toy with it's own place in the market and we need Apple to keep MS honest
I really like both companies, and thank God we are all free to have our own opinions
thanks for your reply.. (and yes i AM VERY DISAPPOINTED i can't change my piccy in Mac Lync)
Jens
I updated my Lync for Mac 2011 and I haven't been able to log in since. If I delete Lync and reinstall without the latest update (14.0.1) then at least I can see Lync but I can't log in. It says 'Lync was unable to sing in. Please verify
your logon credentials and try again. If the problem continues, please contact your support team.' We are on Office365 in our office and I'm the only one that seems to be missing my certificate in the keychain. Everyone else is having
no problem with Lync.
If I run the update (to 14.0.7) then Lync doesn't even open (this is reproducable every time I do this uninstall, reinstall, update sequence), I just get a big fail window that says the following:

I've checked out all the forums and walked through some of the steps and I think I figured out my issue: I have NO certificate in my keychain whatsoever; Known or unknown. My account/system administrator here is unsure how to get me a certificate because
we use Office 365 and he says when I install Lync or try to log in it should be giving me a new certificate. Does anyone know how to get me a certificate? Or know how my administrator will get it to install a new certificate?
If your OSX filesystem is formatted as: Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled) then the Lync 14.0.7 upgrade will immediately crash. You need to follow the instructions
in the blog post referenced below:
http://preston4tw.blogspot.com.au/2013/12/microsoft-lync-2011-for-mac-1407-bug.html
This will fix the immediate crash and if your Lync worked before the upgrade to 14.0.7 it should work again. If you have certificate problems then this would not be the only
fix required.
Hi guys,
I'm deploying Lync 2013 at a customer site. We'll be applying QoS by enforcing static port ranges within Lync (CsConferencingConfiguration), and applying ACLs on the network equipment and dropping the various Lync modalities into the relevant QoS queue,
pretty standard.
Quick question. What's the expected behaviour for the Lync for Mac 2011 client. Will it honour the port ranges as defined on the Lync server conferencing configuration? Can't seem to find the answer anywhere online or in the forums.
2nd question - does anyone know what the meaning of the following command:
Set-CsMediaConfiguration -EnableQoS $True
According to the TechNet
article titled Enabling QoS for devices that are not based on Windows, it sounds like this command has some role to play in enabling QoS for non-Windows devices.. just wondering if that includes Mac OS. Again, information is sketchy
on this.
Cheers, James.

One way you can check is simply by running a WireShark capture on a Windows endpoint. Either run a capture on the Mediation server to sniff a PSTN call, or as RTP traffic is point to point in a two-party call you can just call a Windows PC from the
Mac. Look for the DSCP section in the Internet Protocol area as shown in this non-Lync article:
http://conceptsfortheroad.com/2012/06/how-to-verify-dscp-value-in-not-being-stripped/
Or play with this filter 'ip.dsfield.dscp 46' to see if something is being sent at all.
Hopefully someone has done a deep dive and will chime in, but I'd love to see your results!

hai everybody
i want to know how to customize the images before uploading into KM.if anybody know reply.thanks in advance
Hi Kasturi,
in fact, you could implement a repository service reacting omn the creation of resources, checking if it's an image, and with an image editing API at hand, change the image to your needs; if you need it to be done automatically.
Hope it helps

Hi All,
Having an issue logging into my Office 365 Lync service. I have on-site exchange and I'm a bit confused about how to proceed in terms of what goes where:
Email Address: [email protected]
Office 365 Address: [email protected]
Now, on the PC I've just punched in my Office 365 address and password and it's worked fine, however Lync for Mac asks for both an email address an User ID. Using Lyn 14.0.7 on OS X Mavericks.
Any help on getting me logged in would be much appreciated!
According to this situation, your account status and the Lync Online service should be fine. Based on my experience, this issue might be related to the Lync client or the environment of the machine.
To narrow down the cause, would you mind performing some steps to see if the issue persists? Please see the following:
1. Try to sign in to Lync by using an incorrect sign-in address which you know won’t work. For example, EmailAddress @contoso.com. After the sign-in fails, please use the correct sign-in address.
2. Clear cached data
First, delete the following folders:
Users/Home Folder/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.Lync
Users/Home Folder/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Microsoft Lync History
3. If the certificates for Lync is corrupted, please delete it. To do this, follow these steps:
a. Open the Keychain Access certificate management utility. To do this, in Finder, click
Applications, click Utilities, and then click
Keychain Access. Or, search for Keychain Access by using Spotlight.
b. In the left pane, click login, and then click
Certificates.
c. In the right pane, find a certificate that's named
Unknown or Communications Server, select it, and then delete it.
Note You may have to unlock your keychain by using your password.
d. Close Keychain Access.
e. Restart Lync for Mac.

i hv bought d Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac. how to intall it without installation CD? jus hv activation key..
From what you say, you have probably opened Parallels Desktop. If you were not asked for your activation key, you will find a button called 'Parallels Desktop' at the top left part of the screen, so press it, and you will find an option named 'Activate' or something similar. Select it, and if Parallels Desktop is not activated, type the activation key. That's all.
Respecting to the window you are seeing now, you have to choose one option to create a virtual machine. For example, if you have got the operating system you want to install in a DVD (for example, Windows), choose DVD. If you have got the operating system installer in an ISO file, choose Image File. You can find more help in the Parallels website.
I cannot get my Logitech Webcam or Cinema Display facetime webcam to work with MS Lync. Lync always uses the Macbook Pro's standard webcam and does not give any options anywhere to choose between video devices. The same webcam works with GotoMeeting, Viber, Skype and Google Hangout without any problems.
Does anyone know how I could get it working with Lync for Mac too? I have the Lync for 2011 version 14.0.7.

Since upgrading to the latest version of Lync for Mac (14.0.10) I keep getting the popup 'Credentials are required - Type your user name and password to connect for retrieving calendar data from outlook'.
Mac is Macbook Pro running OS 10.9.3, and Outlook version is 14.4.8.
Any thoughts on how to fix? Have cleared document cache, keychain, certificated and library files. Same problem.
Lync client was downloaded from Outlook 'Check for Updates' option. Time and dates are set correctly and Mac is synced with time.apple.com.
Please advise.
can you check for the port 5061 from internal and external. Mac clients will use this port to connect to Lync.

Outlook 2011 for MAC, how do I stop 'to protect your privacy some pictures in this message were not downloaded' I've added to safe senders and added to contacts, it still happens with every single email

just got a Nikon D610 and CS5 for Mac can't open the images -- message says installed version of camera raw doesn't support the camera. Downloaded the Raw 6.2 update for Mac, but installation failed. Now what?
The D610 didn't get out-of-the-box RAW support until Photoshop CC.
You can either upgrade to CC or use the DNG Converter to convert and open your DNGs in CS5.
I'm using Lync for Mac 2011 14.0.9 and the my user photo as well as the photos of other users who are using photos stored in our AD do not display. This behaviour has been occurring at least since 14.0.5. The behaviour occurs regardless of whether
I sign in using Kerberos or name / Password. This behaviour is common for all our Mac lync users. The only photos that display are ones from windows lync users that have chosen to use a photo that is stored on the internet somewhere.
The Lync for Mac 2011 client is running against Lync Server 2010 and Exchange 2010 servers.
I also have the common problem that I cannot search the global address book for lync users. Maybe this is related but none of the reports I've seen about the address book search have mentioned anything about photos not displaying.
Anyone Experience similar issues or know where I could start to find the problem with the contacts display? It used to work correctly way back in 14.0.2 and subsequently an update around 14.0.5 killed the features for me.
Oh and the Mac is running OSX 10.9 but the issues also occurred in OSX 10.8
Thanks!
Hi,
Did you choose “Show a picture from a web address” on Windows Lync 2010 client? If yes, on Windows Lync 2010 client, choose “Default corporate picture” instead of “Show a picture from a web address”. Then open Lync 2011 on Mac computer to test the issue.
The choose will sync to all Lync clients for the same Lync account.
Best Regards,

After upgrading to yosemite my Lync for Mac will not sign in. It seems to connect, briefly displays a contact list, and then goes back tho the sign in screen and it starts all over. I am running version 14.0.9, and my advanced settings seem to be the same. Please help!

In Microsoft Office for Mac, how do I highlight sentences or parts of sentences so that the highlighting will show when I print the documeht?
It can depend on the version of Office Mac which we don't know. v2011 is much different from v2008 and earlier. In Word 2008, the highlight tool looks like this in the formatting toolbar:
Default highlight color is yellow. If you cannot find that icon or have a newer version of Office, you really need to ask how to get it to a toolbar in the MS Office:Mac forums at Csound1 suggests. They are very helpful. Find them here:

Microsoft Office for MAC, how does the sender select a notification that an email has been opened and read in Outlook? Thanks
Since this question is about a Microsoft product, you might have more luck getting suggestions if you ask in Microsoft's own forums.
